The dining scene in Alice Springs is quite reasonable, considering its relatively small size. The majority of the restaurants tend to be concentrated within the town centre, around the pedestrianised Todd Mall and close to local hotels and attractions.

Located on Hartley Street, the Overlanders Steakhouse is a popular choice with visitors to Alice Springs. Here you can sample real outback ingredients, including crocodile and kangaroo steaks. At the Red Ochre Grill on the Leichhardt Terrace, bush tucker, fish and chips, barramundi cakes and even camel sirloins are all specialities.

A number of notable dining establishments in Alice Springs line Todd Street, such as the Bojangles Saloon, the Rock Bar and the Todd Tavern, a friendly bistro offering daily meals from 12:00 until 21:00, as well as a popular al fresco dining area. Specials at the Todd Tavern include a 'Movie Meal Deal' on Monday, burgers and beer on Saturday, and a Sunday evening roast. There are also many excellent restaurants located on Barrett Drive, Bath Street, the Gregory Terrace, Larapinta Drive, Stephens Road, the Stott Terrace, the Stuart Terrace and along Undoolya Road.

Cafés and central hotels tend to provide the best breakfast dining options in the town, while the Sport Cafe at the Ansett Building Todd Mall is often a convenient choice for lunch, along with McDonald's on the Railway Terrace.

Many local restaurants do not open for breakfast and instead serve lunch from 12:00 to 14:00, and dinner from around 18:00 until late, while some remain closed on Sundays. Vegetarians and vegans may like to consider a meal at the Tea Shrine on Hartley Street.
